Organizations and Agencies

The Farmington River Coordinating Committee (FRCC) - Oversees the wild and scenic section of the Farmington River.

The Farmington River Watershed Association (FRWA) - A non profit addressing issues such as water quality on the Farmington River.

CT DEEP - The CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

MDC - Supplies drinking water to Hartford and regulates the flow of the West Branch of the Farmington.

Farmington River Anglers Association - Fishing and conserving the Farmington River in CT.

CT Trout Unlimited - Trout Unlimited Connecticut is a grassroots conservation organization dedicated to protect, reconnect, restore and sustain Connecticut's cold water resources.

Places of Interest

American Legion State Forest - Four season fun can be found at American Legion/Peoples State Forests which offer the region's finest fishing, hunting and winter sporting activities nestled amid the wooded splendor. Camping in summer.

People's State Forest - Great picnicking, hiking, and pavilion area.

Nepaug State Forest - Hiking and mountain biking.

The Barkhamsted Historical Society - The Barkhamsted Historical Society is working to preserve and share the history and culture of the Connecticut town of Barkhamsted.

People's State Forest Nature Museum (Stone Museum) - Educating people about local flora, fauna, and history.
